In April, I accepted the role of General Manager of the Oahu Lumber division and Truss Plant operation. Although I had spent most of my career at Kimal Lumber & Hardware in southwest Florida, and even served as the 2012 Florida Building Materials Association Chair, I decided the move from sunny Florida to sunny Hawaii would be a good one. And I was right!

Mahalo (thank you), to my new work family in our picturesque 50th state. I’m happy to join this company which has built itself up from humble beginnings. Honsador Lumber started its business in 1935 as a millwork and sash and door company on the island of Oahu. The beginnings were Spartan, as one could imagine manufacturing to be in the 1930s. During their start up, and for many years after that, the company was appropriately called Honolulu Sash and Door. Over the years, the company evolved out of a small millwork and sash business into Hawaii’s largest lumber supplier. In time, the company added finish products, such as cabinetry, doors and windows, and others to compliment the lumber and plywood offerings. The company targeted general contractors, owner builders, and military accounts. These days, we’re proud to manufacture trusses, too.

Our teams at Honsador are terrific. Pictured in the photo is our Oahu main branch team, along with our accounting department and truss plant employees. But this is only one of our locations in the Islands, which stretch all the way from Kilauea on Kauai, Kapaa, Kauai, Nawiliwili Kauai; Kapolei, Oahu; Kahului, Maui; and on the Big Island, with branches in Kona and Hilo.

If you’re ever in the neighborhood, please stop by. Aloha!
