Last month’s issue of The Advertiser included a story from us about using, reusing, and repurposing lumber, Responsible Building at Pacific Wall Systems, Inc. In it, we talked about the ways that we use our wood scraps. In addition, pieces smaller than 6” are donated to the community for personal heat or sent to our local energy plant to be burned into electricity. Even so, there is one more way that our lumber is being reused to everyone’s benefit – woodworking crafts.

One retired gentleman in particular is a welcome visitor to our free wood bin. Whenever he comes by to pick through our scrap lumber, we know good things will result. His most popular creations are birdhouses and toys. In fact, most of his wooden toys are donated to the local Children’s Hospital. [For photos, see PDF or View in Full Issue]
