I was usually the voice on the other side of the phone or computer during my 13 years with WTCA/SBCA, but Ken Cloyd was a person I had the pleasure to meet face-to-face. And believe me, you don’t forget meeting Kenny.
Even though it’s been nearly two years since we’ve had an email conversation, I am going to miss him. He’s one of the guys who I’ve still been hoping to see again someday at an industry event. Business or pleasure, he was warm, outgoing, loud, smart, personable, challenging, and fun, too.
But friendship aside, Kenny is a man to be remembered for his support of the components industry in California. He was instrumental in creating the California Engineered Structural Components Association, CalESCA as it was called in the beginning, which later became CalSBCA. Had it not been for the crash that hit our industry, that chapter would have grown to rival Texas by now!
Indeed, Ken Cloyd was larger than life, and his legacy will continue with the business he leaves behind in California and through the friends he leaves behind in the industry.
We’ll miss you, Kenny
