When you’re working on a jobsite, you never know what you might see or what might be coming next. As shown on this month’s cover, a recent project by Lowder Construction had us helping a neighborhood prepare for Oktoberfest (or at least I like to think of it that way). As you can see from the signage, a Beer Garden was Coming Soon! [For photos, See PDF or View in Full Issue]

And that is one of the great benefits of structural building components – you can literally find them everywhere. While some still think “trusses = roofs,” every day we’re showing that the possibilities are limited only by our imaginations.

Personally, I’ve enjoyed a 30+ year history within the wood truss industry. Prior to joining Lowder Construction in Archdale, NC in February, I was very fortunate to learn from two of the most knowledgeable business men in the country (who also happened to be in the wood components industry) – Calvin Hall and Gifford Shaw. Through their efforts, I have been able to grow into productive and successful roles with several of the top-producing truss companies in the country. Now, in addition to expecting the unexpected, I also know that the key to success is communication and teamwork. With contract values from $1 million to $10 million and having up to eight projects being produced at the same time, our construction company relies on relationships and good communication with our material suppliers. Together, we’re helping make neighborhoods better, one beer garden at a time.
