How can we understand quality? September brings your chance to find out! At BCMC in Columbus last year, our Timber Products Inspection booth gave all attendees the chance to test their skills and acumen for Quality Assurance. This year at BCMC in Indianapolis, we’re holding the competition again!

In booth #839, you will have a chance to inspect a truss just like your QA in-house inspector — which means that you can see if you have what it takes to evaluate ANSI/TPI 1 requirements.

We invite you to come by our booth, grab an inspection sheet, and see how you measure up. Prizes will be awarded for the best inspections, and a drawing will be held for any ties. In addition, you will be able to meet experts in the quality assurance world who will be able to answer your questions on wood trusses, wall panels, cold-formed steel trusses, and lumber grading. Come test your skills!

At the show, you can learn the following:

  1. What is quality?
  2. Why is quality important?
  3. How can I measure quality?
  4. What is important and what is not?
  5. What is a critical joint? Aren’t they all critical?
  6. Is there a difference between Precision and Accuracy?
  7. Can I be too precise?
  8. How can I determine if my quality meets the standards?
  9. How does managing my quality reduce my risk?
  10. How does engaging a third party help achieve the desired outcomes?

When it comes to building metal plate connected wood trusses, value can be measured in different ways. Sometimes it depends on the participant’s point of view and their involvement in the process. Come to the show and find out!
