Advertiser Forum: Our Industry Family at BCMC

Issue #18327 - October 2026 | Page #6

By Anna L. Stamm

Believe it or not, I started in this industry 26½ years ago, back when SBCA was still the Wood Truss Council of America. For 13 years, I had the privilege of supporting members and chapters, personally assisting in the start-up of 9 chapters, doing direct administration for 22 chapters, and providing general support to all 35 chapters. I always enjoyed my job, and I only resigned as Director of Membership and Chapter Development when I moved out of state (because in those days you couldn’t work remotely). When I learned I was nominated for an industry award this year, I was thrilled.

It’s true when they say it’s an honor to be nominated. It’s even better when you win. Thank you so much to everyone who voted for me this year for SBCA’s Norm McKenna Chapter Service Award. [For photo, See PDF or View in Full Issue.]

Although I had to leave my job at WTCA/SBCA, joining The Component Manufacturing Advertiser allowed me to return to my industry family as an association member instead of association staff. But, I still see my role as providing support to anyone/everyone who needs it, because we’re in this industry together. As they say, a rising tide lifts all boats, and we are all stronger when we work together. In The CM Advertiser, we’ve created a place to share ideas and information. Our contributors may not have all of the answers, and you may not always agree with them, but they will spur new ideas and keep the conversation moving forward.

Likewise, you may not always think of this as an industry family, but I encourage you to see it that way. We are a diverse network of manufacturers and suppliers who are willing to share information and advice, so that we maintain the quality of our products as we expand their use. Our annual BCMC tradeshow is our extended family reunion. Just like our own families, we may not get along with all of our relatives, but we can certainly have a good time when we unite for a special occasion. If you missed BCMC Columbus, be sure to put BCMC Milwaukee on your radar for October 2027. Everyone is welcome.

Thank you again for the recognition! I’m proud to be a part of the family.
