What Do They Say To You?

By Anna L. Stamm

Every month, I encourage our advertisers, industry professionals, and others to write what they would like to say to you. That, plain and simple, is the purpose of the open forum program we began 5 years ago when I started at The Advertiser. And, you are invited to say what you would like to convey to our readers, too.

So, what do you hear them saying to you? Every month, I hear stories of encouragement, tales of growth, willingness to learn from shortcomings, recognition of achievements, and aspirations for the future. Reading the articles lets me reflect on aspects of my own life, even when they’re about products I will never need or situations that are unlike my own.

In this issue, here are a few of the things I hear in the first 7 articles:

  • Joe Kannapell, once again, helps us celebrate the amazing journey the component manufacturing industry has taken, and we are happy to feel a part of this great evolution;
  • Cullen Ellis reminds us that the manufacturing process is, first and foremost, dependent on the people who perform the tasks, so the equipment must accommodate real not ideal situations;
  • Ben Hershey encourages us to stay focused on goals and lead by example, especially when times get tough;
  • Glenn Traylor reminds us that every day is an opportunity to put your best foot forward;
  • Todd Drummond shows us that change and growth are most successful when you look at the whole and not simply isolated parts;
  • Tracy Roe highlights the advances in software that are making it possible to build better;
  • Ed Serrano captures the sense of regret that comes with inaction, so that we are encouraged to be proactive instead.

And, these are only the first 7—this issue has 19 articles including my own. What will you hear? Will you follow “Dad’s Advice” from Thom? Do you feel like you’re in a “Rat Race” or have you found a better path? If you would like to comment on these articles or submit one of your own, simply let me know.
