If you’re hiring or looking for a job, watch the Super Bowl telecast just before half-time. You’ll see the seriousness of the struggle for good people in our industry. After viewing, you may question the Super-sized investment. But, in your business, you know that you have to spend money to make money. Why not spend it to get great people?

Would you believe that this groundbreaking ad arose from within the ranks of the advertiser? Prompted by a simple question from the owner, “What can I do to help you?” The one word answer, “People,” eliciting the bold, even Trumpian owner’s response – “We’ll just buy a Super Bowl commercial.”

I’m not saying this ad will be as effective as the groundbreaking 1984 McIntosh commercial. We may not be Apple, but our under-the-radar industry needs great people just as much. What aspiring entrepreneur wouldn’t enjoy a career designing 3D models, or building structures with computers – ultimately with robotics (see article on page 13). It is high time that our great industry is recognized as a great career choice; by 100 million viewers, no less!
