My name may seem familiar or even confusing to some since I share it with my father. We, like every father and son, have our similarities and differences. We share drive, integrity, honesty, and the significance of one’s character. We do have differences as well and one of them is how we serve the component industry. Where he is on the manufacturing side, I have elected to operate on the supplier side providing solutions for all component manufacturers. I did not have the typical coming of age story in the component industry, building, designing, or selling trusses like many sons with fathers in the component industry do. It was not until I was approaching 15 or 16 when I genuinely started to comprehend what the component industry was or why it was so extraordinary. I did not follow in my father’s footsteps by immediately joining the industry—I did, however, follow my father’s footsteps by enlisting into the United States Navy.

In fact, my extensive experience with advanced equipment and electronics starts with my five years of distinguished service as the lead technician for the Tactical Tomahawk Weapons Control System aboard the USS Cape St. George. After the Navy, I spent two years as a field service engineer with a metallographic equipment manufacturer, increasing my capabilities and knowledge of advanced equipment. My true step into the component industry was becoming the North American Technical Services Manager of Finland-based Trussmatic, which produced the first fully automatic production line for the wood roof truss industry. Diving into the world of automation with Trussmatic further expanded my capabilities and understanding, now including robotics and plant automation.

The realm of possibilities and potential with automation is almost limitless, but I quickly realized something that was disconcerting to me. That bemusement was the absence of automation in the component industry. I believed then as I do today, the introduction and application of automation with advanced equipment is THE future for our beloved industry. I am ecstatic to help usher a new age into the component industry and where we will progress from here!

But I am not just a guy who grew up hearing about trusses. I am ridiculously competitive, I’ve circumnavigated the globe, I love to laugh, but above everything else is my character, I believe that one’s character is everything. And, I am unbelievably thrilled to join the teams at Wood Tech Systems and 4Ward Solutions Group. Both teams are incredibly driven in the present with a relentless outlook on the future of our industry and our clients. I’m looking forward to delivering the best equipment and automated plant solutions to our customers. I cannot wait to share my knowledge, expertise, and personality with the industry selling new/used equipment for Wood Tech Systems and to provide advanced equipment consulting on behalf of 4Ward Solutions!

I hit the ground running with both Wood Tech Systems and 4Ward consulting on 15 June 2020. It has been an exhilarating challenge thus far learning the practices and processes of two companies at the same time. Learning suppliers, equipment, and solutions I will provide for our industry is an opportunity I crave. The future of our industry is exceedingly bright, and I am proud to be a team member of two independent companies that share the identical drive and motivation that our industry deserves.
