The Fed has already raised interest rates a number of times, and it will probably make one more hike upwards. But according to economists, the hikes will not go beyond 5%. Fortunately, inflation is beginning to cool, so the need for further hikes is diminished.
Jared Franz, U.S. Economist for Capital Group, believes interest rates will remain high for a longer period time, and as such they may trigger a “shallow” recession. But, even if that’s the case, he expects growth to bounce back quickly. In his report for 2023, he believes that the U.S. could be at the start of a strong capital spending cycle as manufacturing is reshaped and supply chains realign.
