Mid-Life Crisis?

Mid-Life Crisis? Maybe, but not if you consider that I’ve been “remote” since 1992. Sure I’ve had offices, all home offices, but who is to say they can’t have wheels? I had a false start in 2017 when I bought the RV and truck, then headed to Naples, Florida. It was to be a few years to see America, maybe some of Canada, and then settle down and grow up. After all, I was single, kids were grown, and life was good. What I didn’t know was that life was about to get much better. I met Beth and we hit it off. The only hold back was she had a “Real Job” requiring her to basically punch the clock at a real office. So, the grand trip was postponed.

Fast forward 4 years and we are both remote (well, Beth is semi-remote) and we are beginning the journey again – Beth, our cats Tiki and Gigi, and me. This time, we will be traveling the country while working remote. After an extended working vacation in Washington, I plan to stop at component plants and visit industry suppliers on their turf. Sure, BCMC is the best place to find suppliers, but trying to carve out time during BCMC for an interview is almost impossible. So put me on your calendar, show me your facility, and tell me your story. It could be a great article in The Advertiser.

I’m sure nobody will forget that I am that industry recruiter of nearly 30 years. Like some of my clients say, I am more like the E-Harmony® of the Building Component Industry. More like a match maker than Head Hunter, I try to make matches that last. So let’s discuss what makes your company a great option for JobLine’s candidates and let us show them your facility. I have several ideas about interviewing hiring managers as if I was the candidate, and being able to bring that knowledge back to JobLine to better inform candidates and match their goals with what you have to offer. It works long distance now, but once we can get there, talk to the key players, and maybe get a few images or videos for candidates to review, we should be able to make even better matches.

I’m not the first person to work remote from an RV, so if you are also working remote from your RV, send me your story. I know a few truss designers who work remote from an RV and would love to hear their stories. After all, we are just on an extended vacation and the only thing that can get in the way of fun in the sun is our jobs. After all, we just put wheels on our office and didn’t turn off the open for business sign.
