At Eagle Metal, our TrueBuild® software gives you an efficiency advantage at every step in the design process. Our leading parametric 3D capabilities and app-free model sharing makes visualization painless and gives our customers more time to build. Last month’s article, Raising the Bar for Design Efficiency, introduced you to Parametrics and how easily changes are transferred through the model using referenced dimensions. This month, we are going to look at how TrueBuild® software makes finishing placement plans a quick process.

Having a CAD interface, or at least some CAD-like functionality, in component design software is not a new concept. For years, there have been tools for component designers to use to avoid the need to “clean up” a placement plan directly from a layout program. Last month, we touched on “back in the day” a little and that applies to this month’s conversation too. It used to be the case that placement plans were drawn directly on paper plans or drawn completely two-dimensionally in a CAD program. Then, as component design software advanced, tools were added to improve the process.

These days, every component manufacturer has their own template, set of notes, standard details, disclaimer, etc. that they use on every placement plan. But now, imagine also having the flexibility to have your standard templates and notes, plus the ability to save a library of details, directly in your component design software.

TrueBuild® gives you the CAD controls that designers are used to — such as layers, visibility, colors, etc. — while never leaving the software. Simply put, there is no need to “save as” and open a model in CAD.

The tools you need are at your fingertips already. Create and save those custom notes. Import your unique connection details, and even produce a hanger legend instantly without counting anything. Apply a wall note with the details you choose to display, such as width, height, bearing status, and more.

All of this is at your fingertips plus the added efficiency of parametrics. This means that your 3D details and sections are live viewports into your model. If you change a wall, the surrounding walls, the planes, and the trusses change with you. Since everything changes with you, even your 3D details reflect the change. Change a wall height, width, or bearing condition and your wall notes change with you.

By truly integrating the tools that you need directly into the software, TrueBuild® makes component designers more efficient. These features are designed to reduce the time it takes to get from RFQ to Invoice. The ability to share models with approvers via the cloud and having the tools you need in one application means that you have a complete package to help you get your job done right. The TrueBuild® design suite by Eagle Metal has been developed in-house to enable great component manufacturers to build more.
